Hi out there!

To those of you that haven't dropped your subscriptions, to those of you that are still subscribed, believing in your hearts that I haven't podfaded yet, despite the difficult year, I want to say thank you! Thanks for waiting, or being too lazy to clear out the old RSS feeds that aren't any good anymore.

I HAVEN'T PODFADED AND STILL WANT TO BRING YOU SHOWS!

Yesterday, I finally got a chance to check the site, and start to get things going again, and guess what happened?

That's right, no site! No site, no feed, no show, not even a homepage for my host, Blogmatrix.com, and no email telling me what was up! Imagine my surprise! Had I been cut off, squeezed out? Had the company gone under after being overtaken by the competition? What the hell happened? And why wasn't I notified?

I was able to find an email address for Blogmatrix support, and sent off an immediate email to find out just what was going on here. I was also able to locate the Blogmatrix.com blog which informed me that they were switching over to "V10" and had had some problems in the process. To their credit they answered immediately, and let me know that in the changeover they had elected not to move accounts that hadn't posted in the last 60 days. This included yours truly, and thus my show, and page was off the net. However, thanks to Tim Desjardins over at Blogmatrix, my podcast was back up and running by this evening. When I came home from a great open mic night in Monterey, there was an email from Tim informing me that my show was back. I went to my page at Blubrry.com, and all was well. They even gave me hosting credit for the inconvenience, which is a BIG help!

So, if you're still reading this I want to say thanks for sticking with me. I'll have a new show shortly, and be doing my best to get back on track. Maybe even serious! I've got lots of work to do to build my audience back up again, and I'm looking forward to every bit of it!

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks since our last podcast, but here’s our latest one for your dinner, dining and dancing pleasure. Today we talk about my work and time at the National Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and send a big shout out to Kenn Rodriguez, Danny Solis and the good people of Albuquerque for their fabulous hosting of the 2005 National Poetry Slam. As well as Team Albuquerque’s grand slam first place win at the Nationals at Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico in front of a sold out crowd of 2300 poetry lovers! Much love to that wild bunch who put on one of the best Nationals in years!

Today we also begin our four part interview series featuring interviews of people I met and worked with at the National Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. First up is Joseph Marcell, veteran of stage and screen, a Shakespearean, and Broadway actor who is probably best known in America for his work as Geoffrey the Butler on the hit TV series THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR, a role created just for him.

We also feature music by Mwalim Peters, Singer/Songwriter, composer, Poet, playwright, and Professor in the U. Mass (University of Massachusetts) Theatre Dept. He’s also Artistic Director of the New African Theatre Company, the longest running black theatre company in Massachusetts. We hear a track called THE TALKING DRUM MIX, and we give you a taste of some music by Maggie Brown, her late, great father Oscar Brown Jr. and her baby sister Africa Pace Brown doing the ALL BLUES MEDLEY. Look for my interview with Maggie Brown as the last in this four part interview series.

Here are some links to the artists and festivals we’re presenting this week. Please check them out, and support them when you can. You won’t ever be disappointed!

It’s Sunday Go To Meetin’ on Thursday! Apologies for the delay in getting last weekends show out. It was the Slam’s fault! ;+)

Today we talk about the 8th Annual West Coast Championship Poetry Slam, the hottest ringtone in the Phillipines, and C7’s upcoming show at Kimball’s East in Jack London Square, Oakland. Our feature this week is Spoken Word Artist Nercity. You can check him out http://www.nercityblues.com. C7 remembers Nintendo, talks about his birthday today, and his parents (Dad sent him an e-card). Then it’s onto another track for Nercity, “Jelly, pusher cut”. Garland T gives his answer to Dear Abby and windchimes. We also hear about Monterey’s newest performance venue, Monterey Live, and the great things coming up there. Then a shout out to London after the latest bombing incidents, and the end of show wrap up. Til Sunday! Be cool! Peace – gt

We also revisit the Cold War, and talk about industrial standards of the former Soviet Reuplic. We hear about the first time C7 got some tongue, and talk about freedom of expression. We take a look at Abstinence programs, and their effects, and C7 gives us important fashion tips. We talk about a book C7 is reading by author Bruce Schneier, ‘Secrets and Lies : Digital Security in a Networked World’. How does it all affect our lives? Also, we talk real estate in Harlem.

Today we talk about some crazy news stories (mothers tatooing their foreheads for education?), Art, the Artist, and how they’re perceived and mis-perceived. We have fun with our studio audience, and we give you a sneak preview of an about-to-be new Spoken Word CD release called “Weapons of Mass Instruction: the Evolution will be televised. Lucky 7 and Jason Bayani, poets from the Bay Area are featured, and we also give you a tasty little number from Amiri Baraka called “In Walked Bud”. We hear a report from our reporter at large Ekayani at the Fete De La Musique concert in Miami, and have a conversation about the Live 8 concerts, independence, and independence day. Congrats to Adam Curry on passing his Flight exams, and becoming a fully licensed pilot. We also take a moment to talk about the new Itunes 4.9, and it’s podcasting abilities. Happy Fathers Day! To fathers everywhere!

Hope you enjoyed it Dad! We’re back for another show (we missed you all!), and I’ve got a rundown for you. So, here goes -

We’ve got Father’s Day greetings, silly stuff going on in the news, lurker listeners, and podcast stuff. c7 wants to know about the Dawn & Drew Show, and all life halts for cell phones. The $18,000 bar of soap and other expensive “art”.

We speak about Child Labor in the modern world, and what can be done. Here’s a film everyone should see called “Stolen Childhoods”. Please click this link http://www.stolenchildhoods.org/

We get on with the business of raggin’ on GM, and the Hummer H3. Then it’s adult spelling bee envy, as c7 does Mike Tyson, and Garland T. does Michael Jackson. We talk Iranian election strategies, upcoming poetry shows, blind skiers and cow racing. Then it’s our end of show wrap up.

Music featured this week by our very own DJ Dice with a mix he calls ‘Full Circle”. Check out his other mixes at http://www.straylightproductions.com

Catch him live on wednesdays at Morgans Coffee & Teas in Monterey, 498 Washington St.

Til next week everybody, be good to yourselves. And check out the links below.

C7 had to study all weekend for finals this week. So, no show for this Sunday. Of course I
may get a wild hair on Monday to do a podcast, but barring that expect us back next
weekend with a fresh new show.

Til then, take care, and love each other madly!

Peace,
